A 17-year-old girl, identified as Iwasen Terhemba, has allegedly been attacked with a razor blade in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State, following claims of persistent harassment by a married man.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday at the teenager’s residence. Community sources said the girl, who lives with her guardian, Jemila Wanga, had repeatedly rejected advances from a married man identified as Abbas, citing her age and his marital status.
Tensions allegedly escalated after the man’s wife, Ramatu Abbas, became aware of the situation. Residents claimed she issued verbal threats against the minor. In an attempt to de-escalate the matter, the guardian reportedly approached the woman to explain that it was her husband who had been harassing the girl and urged her to caution him.
However, sources alleged that the situation later turned violent when Ramatu Abbas went to the girl’s house and attacked her with a razor blade, causing facial injuries. The suspect reportedly warned the victim and her guardian against reporting the incident to the authorities, insisting it should be “settled at home.”

Speaking by phone on Thursday, the guardian appealed for urgent intervention, saying she and her children had been threatened. She said she was still mourning her late husband and had been bearing the medical costs for the injured teenager. She also appealed to the Taraba State Government, particularly Governor Agbu Kefas, to support the victim’s medical treatment and ensure justice.
The incident has triggered public concern, with residents calling for stronger protection for minors and accountability for those involved.
Confirming the report, the Taraba State Police Command spokesperson, Victor Mshelizah, said the case had been reported and investigations were ongoing.
“The victim has given her statement, and the case file is being compiled for court,” he said, adding that pressure from some community members to withdraw the case would not deter the police. “Anyone found culpable will be brought to justice
