Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the Federal Capital Territory has arrested 112 suspected vandals of critical national assets in 2025.
The FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, disclosed this in Abuja, saying the arrests followed attacks on public infrastructure across the territory.
According to him, September recorded the highest number with 58 arrests, while August had 27. Other arrests were made between January and July, mainly for vandalising streetlights, telecommunication masts, fibre optic cables and road crash barriers.
Odumosu said 15 cases are currently in court, four are under investigation, and five convictions have been secured.

He noted that vandalism has affected key areas including network facilities, billboards, National Hospital streetlights and major roads within the FCT.
The commandant warned that those involved in destroying public assets would face the law, adding that the Federal Government has invested heavily in infrastructure.
He urged residents to share timely intelligence, stressing that public cooperation is key to protecting national assets.
