Operation Hadin Kai troops recover Boko Haram flags and equipment after repelling attacks in Borno.
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled a Boko Haram drone-coordinated attack in Borno State’s Timbuktu Triangle, recovering flags, arms, and other equipment from terrorist camps.
Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Media Officer of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Northeast, said the troops carried out intelligence-led operations across Chilaria, Garin Faruk, and Abirma on Sunday, 18 January 2026.
The operation, supported by air surveillance, allowed real-time tracking of terrorist movements, deterred reinforcements, and enhanced precision in ground offensives.
Recovered items included radios, phones, AK-47 magazines, 7.62mm ammunition, Boko Haram/ISWAP flags, diesel-powered grinding machines, medical supplies, grains, a pick-up truck, underground logistics storage, and fuel dumps.

Lt. Col. Uba said troops came under drone attacks around midday, but successfully repelled both attempts, forcing terrorists to retreat and reaffirming military control in the area.
“Troop morale remains high, and the security situation is calm but unpredictable. Forces remain vigilant and at a high state of readiness,” he said.
The military affirmed that operations will continue to eliminate terrorist threats, protect civilians, and restore lasting peace in the North East.
