Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu meets World Bank officials at Lagos House to discuss development partnerships.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on the World Bank Group to increase support for the state’s development following its rise to the top of Nigeria’s Ease of Doing Business rankings in 2025.
Sanwo-Olu made the appeal while welcoming a World Bank delegation at Lagos House, Marina, on Monday. The team was led by Managing Director for Operations Anna Bjerde and IFC Regional Vice President for Africa, Ethiopia Tafara.
“Four years ago, Lagos was ranked 29th nationally. Last year, we moved to first place. This was not by chance, but by deliberate, consistent, and accountable governance,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The governor discussed potential areas for collaboration with the World Bank, including energy, agriculture, tourism, and human capital development. He emphasized Lagos’ commitment to improving infrastructure and living standards through targeted partnerships and investments.
