Recovered Toyota Corolla and suspect paraded by Akwa Ibom State Police Command following a car theft operation.
Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a suspected car snatcher and recovered a Toyota Corolla reportedly stolen at gunpoint in Uyo.
Police operatives arrested the suspect, Sunday Okon, a male indigene of Nna Enin Village in Uruan Local Government Area, after tracing the stolen vehicle to Nkwot Ikono Village, Etim Ekpo Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued on Thursday in Uyo by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the arrest followed a distress call received at about 11:30pm on January 20, 2026, during a routine night patrol along Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
The victim, a Bolt driver whose name was withheld, reported that his Toyota Corolla with registration number DKA 337 CB was stolen at gunpoint.

Although the suspect initially escaped with the vehicle, police said intelligence-led operations enabled officers to track and recover the car, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
The police command said investigations are ongoing.
