Chelsea’s Levi Colwill Faces Lengthy Layoff After ACL Surgery
Chelsea defender Levi Colwill will miss most of the season after undergoing surgery on a serious knee injury.
The 22-year-old England international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during his first training session following the Club World Cup on Tuesday. Scans confirmed the damage, and he has since had a successful operation.
ACL injuries typically sideline players for six to nine months, meaning Colwill’s absence will be a major blow to Chelsea’s defensive plans.
Colwill was one of Chelsea’s most consistent performers last season, starting 35 of 38 Premier League games as the Blues secured Champions League qualification. He also featured in the Conference League final and during the Club World Cup, helping the club secure their first two major trophies under the current ownership.

The club has not given a return date, but the centre-back will miss both domestic and European campaigns as he begins his rehabilitation.
