The 23-year-old singer, who has been in the U.S. for less than two months, cited the city’s vibrant energy and thriving African community as key factors in her decision.

In a recent video interview, Ayra Starr shared that New York’s pace and cultural rhythm closely mirror that of her hometown, Lagos, making the transition smoother. “New York reminds me so much of Lagos. So it feels like home. There are a lot of Nigerians here. There’s a huge African diaspora here, so it feels like home,” she said.
