
Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) says over 90,000 retirees have received a total of ₦5.12bn in arrears under the Defined Benefit Scheme.
The Federal Government has disbursed N5.12 billion in pension arrears to 90,689 retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS), the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) announced on Monday.
In a statement, PTAD’s Head of Corporate Communications, Olugbenga Ajayi, says the payments, now completed, covered pensioners across the directorate’s four departments, underscoring the government’s commitment to their welfare.
A departmental breakdown showed that 8,626 pensioners from the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, and Prisons Pension Department (CIPPD) received N276.03 million for one month’s arrears.
The Police Pension Department (PPD) paid N619.58 million to 9,681 pensioners for two months’ arrears, while the Civil Service Pension Department (CSPD) settled N408.73 million to 12,773 retirees for one month’s arrears.
The largest disbursement went to the Parastatals Pension Department (PAPD), where 59,609 pensioners received N3.81 billion for two months’ arrears.
Ajayi reaffirmed PTAD’s pledge to ensure timely and transparent payments to retirees, noting that the exercise reflects the agency’s ongoing efforts to uphold pensioners’ rights and dignity.
