
Four Nigerian teams power into the quarterfinals of the 2025 CAVB U18 Beach Volleyball Championship at Jabi Lake, Abuja.
Abuja came alive on Tuesday, as Nigeria stamped its authority at the 2025 CAVB U18 Beach Volleyball Continental Championship, with four teams advancing to the quarterfinals of the continental showdown at Jabi Lake.
The quarterfinal matches are scheduled for Wednesday, August 6, starting at 10:00 a.m., promising thrilling encounters as Nigeria seeks to extend its home advantage.
In the girls’ category, Nigeria I and Nigeria II stormed through the Round of 16, while Nigeria III bowed out to The Gambia. The next challenge pits Nigeria II against The Gambia, while Nigeria I will lock horns with Algeria.
Other clashes include DR Congo versus Morocco and an all-Egyptian showdown between Egypt I and Egypt II, ensuring at least one Egyptian semifinalist.
For the boys, Nigeria I faces Egypt II, who advanced after an injury to a Ghanaian player ended their last match prematurely. Nigeria II takes on Morocco I, one of the tournament’s standout teams. The remaining fixtures feature Egypt I against The Gambia and DR Congo battling Morocco II.

Nigeria’s impressive showing underscores the country’s investment in youth development and its ambition to dominate the African beach volleyball scene.
President of the CAVB Beach Volleyball Commission, Engineer Musa Nimrod, hailed the standard of play and the talent on display.
“Africa is brimming with potential,” Nimrod said. “With proper guidance and regular competition, these players can become world-class athletes and position the continent as a global force in beach volleyball.”
