Nigeria’s women’s volleyball team fell 3-1 to Tunisia in their opening match of the 2026 African Nations Championship
Nigeria’s senior women’s volleyball team suffered a 3-1 defeat to Tunisia in their opening match of the 2026 CAVB Women’s African Nations Championship in Nairobi, Kenya, on Tuesday.
Nigeria started strongly, winning the first set 25-18 to take an early advantage.
Tunisia responded in the second set, edging Nigeria 25-23 before winning the third set 25-20.
The Tunisians completed the comeback with another 25-20 victory in the fourth set.

The result leaves Nigeria needing positive results in their remaining Group C matches to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive.
In another Group C fixture, Cameroon defeated Ghana 3-0, winning 25-16, 25-20, 25-14.
Hosts and defending champions Kenya began their title defence with a 3-0 victory over Zambia in Group A, winning 25-14, 25-9, 25-11.
In Group B, Egypt swept Burkina Faso 3-0 (25-3, 25-15, 25-15), while Uganda defeated Senegal 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-21).
DR Congo also recorded a 3-0 victory over Burundi in Group D, while Rwanda defeated Algeria by the same scoreline.
Nigeria will next seek to bounce back in Group C and strengthen its chances of progressing to the knockout stage.
