Nigeria’s Oluwaseun Peter Ogunsakin is one victory away from the Wimbledon boys’ doubles final after advancing to the semi-finals of the 2026 Junior Championships.
The 17-year-old and his Botswana partner, Ntungamili Raguin, defeated sixth seeds Yanick Theodore Alexandrescou of France and Ryo Tabata of Japan 6-4, 7-6 in Thursday’s quarter-final at the All England Club.
The African pair have enjoyed an impressive run, having knocked out the tournament’s third seeds in the opening round before overcoming Americans Safir Azam and Vihaan Reddy to reach the last eight.
Although Ogunsakin’s singles campaign ended in the opening round, he made history as the first Nigerian in 36 years to compete in the Wimbledon boys’ singles main draw.
He pushed Britain’s Oliver Page to three sets before narrowly losing in a match that drew praise for his resilience.
Page has since progressed to the third round, highlighting the quality of the opposition.
Ogunsakin and Raguin will next face Australia’s Cruz Hewitt and the Netherlands’ Thijs Boogaard for a place in the Wimbledon boys’ doubles final.
Victory would mark another milestone for Nigerian tennis and further establish Ogunsakin as one of the country’s most promising young players on the international stage.
