France became the first team to book a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a 2-0 victory over Morocco in Thursday’s quarter-final at Boston Stadium.
After a goalless first half, Kylian Mbappé broke the deadlock in the 60th minute before setting up Ousmane Dembélé six minutes later to seal France’s place in the last four.
France dominated much of the contest but were frustrated before the break when Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou saved Mbappé’s penalty after a VAR review awarded the spot-kick.

Didier Deschamps’ side responded strongly after the interval, with Mbappé making the breakthrough before providing the assist for Dembélé to double the lead.
Morocco pushed for a response but failed to breach a disciplined French defence as the 2022 runners-up comfortably secured progression.
France will face the winner of Friday’s quarter-final between Spain and Belgium for a place in the World Cup final.
The remaining quarter-final fixtures will see Norway take on England on Saturday, while defending champions Argentina meet Switzerland on Sunday as the race for football’s biggest prize enters its decisive stage
