Teams battle for supremacy at the 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League as unbeaten sides strengthen their title ambitions in Abuja
The race for honours at the 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League intensified in Abuja as several title contenders maintained unbeaten records during Days Two and Three of the competition.
Defending champions Nigeria Customs Service strengthened their title credentials in the men’s category with back-to-back straight-set victories over Nigeria Police and Defence Spikers.
CNS Spikers also continued their impressive run, defeating Nigeria Correctional Service and Sunshine Spikers 3-0 in both matches to remain among the early pace-setters.
COAS Spikers sustained their winning momentum with consecutive 3-0 victories over Offa Volleyball Club and NSCDC, while Kano Pillars recorded a comfortable straight-set win against Offa VC.
One of the most dramatic encounters of the tournament saw NSCDC stage a determined comeback to edge Ajase Ipo 3-2. The closely contested match went down to the wire before NSCDC secured victory 19-17 in the deciding set.
UCEM VC also demonstrated resilience by overcoming Sunshine Spikers 3-2 in a hard-fought contest, while Defence Spikers defeated Life Camp VC 3-1 to keep their campaign on course.
In the women’s category, Nigeria Customs Service maintained their unbeaten start with victories over VIP & Partners and NSCDC, further underlining their status as strong title contenders.
CNS Spikers matched that feat with dominant straight-set wins against Fire Service and Benue Queens to remain firmly in contention.

Anambra Queens produced one of the competition’s remarkable comebacks, rallying from behind to defeat Excelsior VC 3-2 on Day Two. However, they suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat to Fire Service on Day Three.
Elsewhere, NAF Rockets swept past Excelsior VC 3-0, while VIP & Partners bounced back from an earlier setback to record a straight-set victory over Olalomi Royal Angels. COAS Spikers also secured another convincing 3-0 win against Life Camp VC.
With several teams yet to taste defeat and a growing number of matches being decided in thrilling five-set battles, the opening phase of the 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League has highlighted the depth of competition, resilience of the teams and growing standard of volleyball in Nigeria.
As the tournament progresses, the battle for supremacy is expected to become even more intense, with leading contenders seeking to preserve their unbeaten runs and strengthen their chances of lifting the title in Abuja.
