Nigerian troops on patrol in Borno State after neutralising 12 Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters and seizing weapons and supplies during clearance operations.
The Nigerian Army, working with other security agencies, has arrested 46 suspected illegal immigrants in Ogun State.
The suspects include 18 nationals of Burkina Faso, 23 from Côte d’Ivoire, four from Togo, and one from Senegal.
Thirty-six of those arrested are male, while 10 are female. According to the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 35 Artillery Brigade, Abeokuta, Major Idereghi Samuel-Akari, the operation followed credible intelligence and was carried out in Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu Ilese, and nearby communities.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had lived in the state for about six months without valid immigration documents.
During interrogation, the individuals reportedly claimed to be merchants and workers affiliated with QNet, an online marketing platform.
The Army said it has handed over the suspects to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Ogun State Command, for further investigation and necessary action.
Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Friday Oguche Onu, commended the troops and collaborating agencies for the successful operation and urged residents to report suspicious activities to security authorities.
The Army says the operation reflects ongoing efforts to curb illegal migration and strengthen internal security across the country
