Former Flying Eagles winger Riliwanu Sarki has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, over allegations linked to his repeated failure to honour police invitations.
The winger, who currently plays for Al Ain FC in the United Arab Emirates, was reportedly apprehended in the early hours of Sunday after arriving in Abuja for the post-season break.
The arrest is said to be connected to several invitations allegedly issued to the player over the past year in relation to an ongoing criminal investigation.
According to available information, investigators had sought Haliru Sarki’s presence to assist in inquiries relating to the matter, but he allegedly failed to appear despite visiting Nigeria on multiple occasions within the period.
It was further gathered that an officer attached to the investigation identified the former Nigeria U-20 international at the airport, leading to his immediate arrest upon arrival.
The nature of the investigation and the specific allegations against the player have not been officially disclosed.

As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force has yet to issue an official statement on the arrest, while efforts to obtain comments from the player or his representatives were unsuccessful.
