Kano Assembly has fixed Monday for the screening of Murtala Sule Garo as Deputy Governor nominee.
The Kano State House of Assembly has scheduled Monday for the screening of Hon. Murtala Sule Garo, who has been nominated for the position of Deputy Governor by Governor Abba Yusuf.
The announcement was made on Wednesday via a Facebook post by Kamaludden Shawai, spokesperson to the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Falgore.
According to the post, the Assembly has formally received the governor’s correspondence seeking the screening and confirmation of Garo for the vacant position.
“The Kano State House of Assembly has officially announced a correspondence of His Excellency’s nominee for the office of Deputy Governor for proper screening and approval,” the statement read.

It further confirmed that the screening exercise has been fixed for Monday at the State Assembly.
The development follows an earlier transmission of Garo’s name to the Assembly by Governor Yusuf, as contained in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.
The nomination is in line with Section 191(3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which empowers a state governor to nominate a replacement where the office of Deputy Governor becomes vacant.
The position became vacant following the voluntary resignation of the former Deputy Governor, Abdussalam Gwarzo, on March 27, 2026.
