The Senate has called for the removal of the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Husaini Magaji, over what lawmakers described as his persistent failure to honour invitations to appear before the National Assembly.
The resolution followed a motion moved by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu during a tense session of the Senate Committee on Finance, where members of the President’s economic team were present.
Lawmakers expressed frustration at the absence of the CAC boss, who had been invited to provide explanations on the commission’s operations and revenue matters but failed to appear.

Moving the motion, Senator Uzor Kalu accused Magaji of repeatedly ignoring the committee’s summons.
“Since I came to the Senate, he has always given excuses that he is in the Villa,” Kalu said.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa, also flagged unresolved concerns over the reconciliation of the commission’s revenues, noting that the agency head had consistently failed to show up to address the issues.
In a further escalation, Senator Adams Oshiomhole backed the motion and proposed that the Senate consider withholding approval of the CAC’s 2026 budget.
