African Democratic Congress (ADC) has emerged as a visible opposition force in the 2026 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, despite failing to win any chairmanship seat.
In Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), ADC candidate Dr Moses Paul secured 12,109 votes, about 19% of valid ballots. He finished second behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, who polled 40,295 votes.
In Bwari Area Council, the ADC candidate also placed second with 4,254 votes (around 18%), trailing the APC’s 18,466 votes.
Across the six area councils, the party recorded 1,366 votes out of 43,960 valid ballots, representing about 3% of the total vote share.

Although the party did not win any chairmanship position, it secured several councillorship seats, including in Kubwa, Bwari, signalling growing grassroots support.
The results suggest that while the APC remains dominant in the FCT, the ADC is strengthening its presence at the local level, positioning itself as an emerging opposition voice ahead of future elections.
