Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Joshua Ishaku of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Bwari Area Council chairmanship election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Returning Officer, Mohammed Nurudeen, announced the result on Sunday in Bwari after the conclusion of collation.
According to INEC, Ishaku secured 18,466 votes in the election held on Saturday, defeating candidates of other political parties to emerge chairman-elect.
The candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came second with 4,254 votes, while the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) candidate polled 3,515 votes to finish third.

The election was conducted across polling units in the area council, with voters turning out to elect their new local government chairman.
With this victory, the APC strengthens its political foothold in the Bwari Area Council, one of the six area councils in the FCT.
INEC has not reported any major disruption during the exercise as of the time of filing this report.
