Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, was on Wednesday released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), only to be reportedly taken into custody shortly after by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).
Sources within the EFCC confirmed late Wednesday that El-Rufai, who had been undergoing questioning since Monday, was freed by the anti-graft agency before being picked up by another federal investigative body.

El-Rufai had arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja at about 10 a.m. on Monday and remained in the commission’s custody until his release on Wednesday.
“We have released him today, but he was shortly picked up after he was released by ICPC,” a source disclosed.
Attempts to obtain official confirmation from the ICPC were unsuccessful, as calls to its spokesperson, John Odey, were not answered as of press time.
When contacted, El-Rufai’s counsel, A. U. Mustapha (SAN), declined to comment on the development.
“It is too late to talk. Let’s talk tomorrow,” he said.
Efforts to reach El-Rufai’s media aide, Muyiwa Adeleye, also proved abortive, as his phone line was unreachable at the time of filing this report.
