Kano State Censorship Board orders closure of entertainment centres during Ramadan.
The Kano State Censorship Board has directed the immediate suspension of all entertainment centres, including event halls and DJ-operated venues, across the state.
The board announced the measure on Tuesday, stating that closures will take effect from 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, and remain in force throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
The Kano board explained the move is intended to allow residents to observe fasting and carry out religious activities in a peaceful environment.

“The closure will continue throughout the fasting period. The reopening date, particularly during the Eid celebrations, will be communicated later,” the board said.
Officials urged venue operators and the public to comply fully with the directive, which aligns with the board’s mandate to regulate entertainment activities in the state.
The board also called for a peaceful and healthy observance of Ramadan and prayed that residents experience the month with mercy and prosperity.
