Kenya’s Ezra Kipchumba Kering has won the 11th edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, finishing the 42km race in 2:11:55.
The race began at Eko Atlantic in Lagos early Saturday morning.
Although Kering delivered a strong performance, he did not break the official world marathon record of 2:00:35 set by Kelvin Kiptum in 2023.
In the women’s category, Ethiopia’s Meseret Dinke finished first with a time of 2:37:36. This marks the sixth straight year an Ethiopian woman has won the race.

Among Nigerian runners, Boyi Nyango was the first male finisher, while Deborah Badung became the first Nigerian woman to complete the marathon this year.
Organisers announced prize money of $50,000 for first place in the elite category.
The marathon remains one of Africa’s biggest road races, drawing international athletes and boosting sports tourism in Lagos.
