NSCDC FCT Command prepares for February 21 Area Councils election.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Command, has deployed 4,000 personnel to secure the upcoming Area Councils election on February 21.
Commandant Olusola Odumosu made the announcement while receiving delegates from the National Peace Committee in Abuja on Friday. He assured voters of protection against harassment and intimidation.
Odumosu said NSCDC officers have received training from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to handle election duties effectively. “Our role starts before the election and continues until results are announced,” he added.

Covert officers have been stationed at crisis-prone polling centres for surveillance, and the corps will work alongside other security agencies to maintain order during and after the vote.
Voters were urged to participate freely without fear, while parents and guardians were advised to discourage the use of youths for political interests.
National Peace Committee Project Manager, Asabe Ndahi, praised the corps for their preparedness and emphasized ongoing collaboration to ensure a peaceful election.
