A fire outbreak on Wednesday destroyed a residential building at Kagarawal Quarters, opposite the District Head’s residence in Gombe, with losses estimated at ₦10 million.
The incident occurred within the coverage area of the ATM Fire Operations Base.
Officers of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Gombe State Command, led by Assistant Superintendent of Fire Gombe State Command, responded after receiving a distress call.

The Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASF Bashir Mu’azu, confirmed that firefighters arrived promptly and contained the fire before it spread to nearby buildings.
“Our officers responded swiftly and were able to stop the fire from escalating into a major disaster,” Mu’azu said.
“Valuables were salvaged, and adjoining structures were protected.”
He praised the firefighters for their quick response, noting that their action reduced further damage.

The Fire Service advised residents to adopt basic fire safety measures and report outbreaks early to prevent large losses.
No casualties were reported.
