At least seven people have died and 70 others were injured in a road accident involving a trailer in Kano State, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has said.
The crash happened at about 8:35am on Sunday along Hadejia Road, Kwanar Danja, according to the FRSC.
The Kano Sector Commander, Idris Muhammed-Lawal, said the accident involved a DAF commercial trailer carrying both passengers and goods.
FRSC officials said the vehicle lost control due to speeding, a situation worsened by the illegal mixing of passengers with goods.

A total of 105 people were involved in the crash. Twenty-eight passengers escaped unhurt, while the injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene within five minutes of receiving a distress call, the FRSC said.
The injured victims were taken to Sir Sunusi Specialist Hospital, Gezawa General Hospital, Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, and Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital in Kano.
FRSC officials confirmed the road was in good condition and described the incident as a single-vehicle crash.
The agency expressed condolences to the families of those who died and warned drivers, especially commercial operators, against speeding, reckless driving, and carrying passengers in goods vehicles.
The FRSC said such unsafe practices continue to cause avoidable deaths on Nigerian roads.
