INEC prepares FCT voters for mock accreditation exercise ahead of February 21 elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will conduct a mock voter accreditation and results upload exercise ahead of the February 21, 2026, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections.
INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner for the FCT said the exercise will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 289 selected polling units from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The commission said the mock exercise is designed to test accreditation systems and results transmission to ensure a smooth election process. Voters in the designated polling units are urged to bring their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and take part.
INEC noted that the list of polling units is available on its official website. The commission assured residents of its readiness to conduct a credible and safe election.

In a related development, INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan held a security meeting with the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on election security. The meeting, attended by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, focused on security planning for the FCT Area Council elections and the June Ekiti governorship polls.
The engagement is part of INEC’s ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of voters, election officials, and materials during the elections.
