FCT Police operatives during an anti-kidnapping operation in Abuja following a failed abduction attempt in Byazhin
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old woman, Nafisat Lateef, for allegedly poisoning a three-year-old boy in Omifon community, Odigbo Local Government Area.
Police said the victim, Abdulrasheed, is the child of Lateef’s tenant. The incident reportedly followed an argument between the suspect and the boy’s mother, Rofiat.
DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the state police spokesperson, said the alleged attack happened on Tuesday, 4 February 2026, at around 8:30 am.
“The suspect allegedly gave the child a liquid suspected to be poisonous. The boy began vomiting and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment,” he stated.

Police detectives arrested Lateef following a swift, intelligence-led operation. The substance believed to be poison was recovered, and the suspect has made statements to the police.
A full investigation is ongoing. The case will be charged to court once the inquiry concludes.
