Governor Dapo Abiodun presents a car to Mr Solanke Taiwo for winning Nigeria’s Overall Best Primary School Teacher award.
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has presented a brand-new car to Mr Solanke Taiwo, a primary school teacher at Ansa-Ur-Deen Main School I, Kemta Lawa, Abeokuta, after he was named Nigeria’s Overall Best Primary School Teacher.
The presentation took place at the governor’s office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, with the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Abayomi Arigbagbu, and the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr Oloko, in attendance.

Speaking on the recognition, Prof Arigbagbu said the award reflects the state government’s sustained investment in education and the success of the Ogun State Education Revitalisation Agenda.

“This shows that once you put sound policies in place—covering curriculum development, school management, technology, infrastructure, and teacher welfare—you will see tangible outcomes. Our teachers and students continue to win awards nationally because the sector has been truly revitalised,” he said.
Mr Taiwo also won the state-level Best Teacher Award in October, before clinching the national title in Abuja. Prof Arigbagbu described this as evidence of genuine progress in the education system.
“It confirms that the entire education sector has truly been revitalised. Ogun State remains number one in education,” he added.
Governor Abiodun said the car gift aims to motivate other teachers to excel. He also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to training and retraining teachers through workshops, seminars, AI-powered platforms, and digitisation initiatives.
Mr Taiwo expressed gratitude to the governor for fostering a supportive environment, saying:
“I feel excited and fulfilled. I promise to continue giving my best to make Ogun State proud and collaborate with fellow educators to maintain its reputation for educational excellence.”
