The Chairman of Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, John Gabaya, has presented a N30.6 billion 2026 budget to the council’s legislature for approval.
The proposal, submitted on Wednesday, is the final budget of his administration, which ends in June 2026.
Mr Gabaya said N22.9 billion is allocated for capital projects, while N7.6 billion will cover recurrent spending.
He said the main focus is to complete ongoing projects started in 2025 and strengthen service delivery across the council.

The chairman said the budget was prepared amid economic challenges, including inflation, fluctuating national revenue and rising demand for public services.
Despite the pressures, he said the council would prioritise projects that directly impact residents across Bwari communities.
Mr Gabaya also said his administration implemented the new minimum wage for council workers, paid part of outstanding pension deductions and improved payroll management.
He added that improved Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) would support implementation and ensure continuity beyond his tenure.
Responding, the Speaker of the council, Dogara Ahmed, praised the administration’s infrastructure efforts, saying they have boosted social and economic activities.
He assured residents that lawmakers would scrutinise the proposal and pass it on time to allow early implementation.
