The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration, signalling the end of the Ramadan fast.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani.
According to the statement, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan.

He urged adherents to uphold the core values promoted during the fasting period, including love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice.
The minister also called on Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the country’s peace, unity, and continued prosperity.
While wishing Muslims a joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration, Tunji-Ojo encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and show kindness to the less privileged.
The statement added that the Federal Government remains committed to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence across the country.
