Former Prince Andrew has been arrested by UK police over alleged misconduct during his time as a trade envoy.
British police have arrested Prince Andrew, Britain’s former prince, on suspicion of misconduct in public office, as investigations linked to the Jeffrey Epstein files intensify.
In a statement on Thursday, Thames Valley Police said officers had arrested “a man in his sixties from Norfolk” in connection with alleged misconduct during his time as a UK trade envoy. Police did not name the suspect, in line with UK practice.
Several British media outlets reported that unmarked police vehicles were seen at the Sandringham estate, where Andrew now lives.
The arrest comes on his 66th birthday and marks a rare moment in modern British history involving a senior royal.
Andrew lost his royal titles last year and was removed from public duties following longstanding controversy over his association with Epstein.

Newly released documents appear to show that Andrew shared potentially confidential information with Epstein during official overseas visits.
Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has repeatedly denied wrongdoing. King Charles III has previously expressed concern over his brother’s conduct, while Buckingham Palace said it would cooperate fully with police inquiries.
At least nine UK police forces say they are reviewing material linked to the Epstein files, while the Metropolitan Police has opened a separate inquiry into other high-profile connections.
