Enugu State has successfully completed the second phase of its Measles–Rubella Integrated Campaign, reaching more than 2.1 million children with vaccines for measles, rubella, and cervical cancer.
The campaign targeted underserved communities, ensuring children received lifesaving immunisations. Authorities said the initiative was made possible through collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), and other partners.
Over 60 independent monitors were trained and deployed across the state’s 17 local government areas to identify missed children, improve real-time data, and support equitable access to vaccines.

The World Health Organization (WHO) praised the effort, highlighting the role of partnerships with organisations such as Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, in expanding access and strengthening monitoring systems. WHO stressed that such campaigns are crucial for preventing outbreaks of measles and rubella.
