Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has scored a major box office milestone as his latest film, “Love and New Notes”, records ₦106 million in its opening weekend, setting a new benchmark as the highest-grossing Nollywood release of 2026.
The romantic drama, directed by Kayode Kasum and released in cinemas on February 13, also achieved the biggest opening weekend of the year, alongside the highest single-day gross and overall top earnings for the weekend.

Distributor FilmOne Entertainment credited the film’s record-breaking performance to strong audience turnout and support.

Reacting to the achievement, Egbuson expressed gratitude to fans and supporters for driving the film’s success.
“All the glory must be to the lord. Woke up to the best news. This is me saying a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to the success of this film. We go harder. Please tell somebody to tell somebody love and new notes season,” he said.
Set against the backdrop of Nigeria’s 1984 currency change, Love and New Notes tells a compelling story of love, ambition and personal growth, blending romance with a nostalgic exploration of a defining moment in the country’s history.
