Security forces deployed to Kwara after deadly village attacks.
President Bola Tinubu has directed fresh reinforcements for Operation Savannah Shield as the Federal Government intensifies security operations across Nigeria’s North Central region.
The directive follows coordinated attacks in Kwara State that left about 75 villagers dead, heightening concerns over rural security and renewed terrorist activity in affected communities.
Military units, the Nigeria Police Force, and forest guard teams have been deployed, backed by stronger intelligence sharing and faster response systems. Security has also been tightened in vulnerable communities and around places of worship.

In a statement, the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, says the action falls under the expanded security mandate approved after President Tinubu declared a national security emergency.
Police officers assigned to VIP escort duties have been redeployed to community policing roles in Kwara and neighbouring states, including the Federal Capital Territory.
President Tinubu described the attacks as “beastly” and said Nigeria’s counter-terrorism effort remains locally driven, while allowing international support that serves national interest.
