Police in Niger State have arrested a man suspected of killing a vigilante member and taking part in armed robberies in Minna.
The suspect, Sudais Zakari, had been on the run since April 2024. He was arrested on 7 February 2026 during a late-night raid on criminal hideouts in the Maitumbi area.
Police said Zakari is suspected of killing Ibrahim Yahaya, also known as Danladi Baushe, a member of a local vigilante group. The killing happened in April 2024.
He is also accused of taking part in several armed robbery attacks in Maitumbi in 2025.

Zakari was arrested alongside Danjuma Idris, who was found with tools including a bolt cutter, machete, pliers, screwdrivers and a bag believed to be stolen.
In a separate operation on 8 February, police arrested another suspect, Aji Gana, at Maitumbi Roundabout. Officers recovered a cutlass, tools and two mobile phones from him.
Police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun said all suspects are under investigation and will be charged in court after the process is complete.
The arrest brings relief to residents who have faced repeated robbery incidents in the area over the past year.
