The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has issued a festive-season warning, calling on Nigerians to celebrate Christmas responsibly and steer clear of drug use in the interest of public health and safety.
In a Christmas message shared on the agency’s X handle on Thursday, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd), extended goodwill to Nigerians nationwide while commending officers of the agency for their continued efforts in combating drug abuse and trafficking.
“Your dedication and sacrifice in protecting our communities from drug abuse are deeply appreciated,” Marwa said, acknowledging the role of NDLEA personnel in safeguarding lives and communities.
He urged citizens to take advantage of the holiday period to make positive, drug-free choices, stressing that individual responsibility plays a crucial role in reducing drug-related harm.
“Together, we can build a safer, healthier, and more prosperous Nigeria. Wishing you all a peaceful, joyous, and drug-free Christmas,” he added.
Marwa noted that the call for caution is especially important amid worrying trends in substance abuse across the country, particularly during festive periods when drug use often spikes.
The NDLEA boss emphasised that community vigilance, informed choices and collective responsibility are essential to protecting families and promoting wellbeing during the Christmas celebrations. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has issued a festive-season warning, calling on Nigerians to celebrate Christmas responsibly and steer clear of drug use in the interest of public health and safety.
