President Bola Tinubu is expected to present the 2026 federal budget to a joint session of the National Assembly today, marking a key moment for Nigeria’s economic planning.
The presentation is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., following a formal request sent by the President to the Senate. Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the letter during plenary, confirming Tinubu’s intention to address both chambers.
The timing has, however, raised concerns among some lawmakers, who said it clashes with Muslim prayer hours. Akpabio said he would consult with the President on a possible adjustment.
