The Federal Government has launched a digital Procurement Certification Portal aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in Nigeria’s public procurement processes.
Speaking at the unveiling in Abuja, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the initiative is a key part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focused on bold reforms across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
“This portal is not just a technological upgrade,” Idris said. “It is a transformative tool designed to eliminate procurement bottlenecks, boost professional competence, and ensure the prudent use of public resources.”
The Minister noted that the platform—developed by the Bureau of Public Procurement in partnership with the World Bank—offers structured certification and training for procurement officers, ensuring they operate with global standards.
He praised the Director-General of the BPP, Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, for his leadership and commitment to reforming the procurement landscape.
Idris emphasized the role of public awareness and stakeholder engagement in sustaining the initiative:
“This portal is a tool not just for government efficiency, but for citizens to demand better services and hold institutions accountable,” he said.
The event drew dignitaries including the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Finance Minister Wale Edun, Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa, Women Affairs Minister Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, NDLEA Chairman Brigadier General Buba Marwa (rtd), and DGs of FRCN and NTA, Dr. Mohammed Bulama and Comrade Abdulhamid Dembos.
