The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is partnering Nasarawa State University, Keffi, to drive AI, digital literacy, and research-driven innovation in Nigeria.
Speaking in Abuja, during a visit by the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, NITDA’s Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to bridging the gap between academia, technology experts, and industry leaders.
He stressed that enhanced collaboration will help tackle key national challenges in healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on digital transformation and future-ready skills.
To institutionalize this partnership, NITDA and NSUK will develop a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to drive long-term innovation and sustainable growth in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem.

Highlighting AI’s transformative potential, Inuwa cited a recent study where AI-powered chatbots provided medical prescriptions comparable to human doctors. He noted that AI can bridge gaps in Nigeria’s healthcare system, particularly in remote areas with limited access to medical professionals.
Professor Liman applauded NITDA’s support for digital education, revealing that NSUK has established a Digital Literacy Center where students are developing tech solutions to boost their global competitiveness.
With this partnership, NITDA and NSUK aim to equip students with digital skills, accelerate AI adoption, and position Nigeria as a leader in tech innovation.
