Security concerns rise in Kogi State following coordinated attacks on churches and rural communities.
Tragedy struck Igunshin community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State on Thursday as gunmen attacked a poultry farm, killing a woman and her daughter.
Three persons were also abducted during the incident.
According to residents, about five armed men stormed the farm at about 1:00 p.m., scaled the perimeter fence, and attacked the victims while they were working alongside other staff members.
The bodies of the poultry owner and her daughter were later found within the premises.
The spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Friday.

“The Command strongly condemns the violent incident at Igushin via Ala, Akure, which led to the tragic loss of two innocent lives. While two victims were rescued through a swift and coordinated operation, we regret the unfortunate deaths recorded,” Jimoh said.
He added that security has been reinforced in the area, noting that efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible.
The police also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information to support ongoing investigations.
