Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu
Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has dismissed reports of his resignation currently circulating on social media, describing the purported letter as fake.
Speaking during an interview, Adelabu clarified that he has not submitted any resignation letter, amid growing speculation over his political future.
The minister, however, reaffirmed his interest in the 2027 Oyo State governorship race, noting that his political ambition remains firmly on course.
“Of course, yes, I am very much in the race,” he said.
“But I will act at the appropriate time, and you will be duly informed, but will be with the consent of Mr President.
For now, I’m committed to my present assignment. It’s still about service, whether national or sub-national.”
Adelabu’s comments come against the backdrop of a directive by President Bola Tinubu, mandating all political appointees seeking elective offices in 2027 to resign on or before March 31, in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act and guidelines issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Meanwhile, political activities within the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State continue to gather momentum.
A support group aligned with the President’s agenda, led by Teslim Folarin, has intensified efforts to reconcile party stakeholders across all 33 local government areas, with the aim of strengthening unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group is also mobilising support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid, while positioning the APC to reclaim the Oyo State Government House.
In a related development, Sarafadeen Ali, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, is also reported to be eyeing the party’s governorship ticket, setting the stage for a potentially competitive primary.
