Bola Tinubu is set to meet King Charles III on Wednesday as part of Nigeria’s first state visit to the United Kingdom in nearly four decades.
The Nigerian president and First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, arrived at London’s Stansted Airport on Tuesday ahead of the high-level engagements.
According to the official schedule, the visit will begin with a meeting between the Nigerian delegation and Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, who will accompany them to Windsor.
President Tinubu is later expected to hold a formal audience with King Charles III at Windsor Castle, where the monarch will also host a state banquet in honour of the Nigerian leader.

The visit underscores the long-standing diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, with both countries maintaining strong cooperation in trade, security and development.
The UK is also home to one of the largest Nigerian diaspora communities.
The meeting comes months after both nations signed a strategic partnership in November 2024 aimed at strengthening collaboration in key areas, including economic growth, immigration and security.
Discussions during the visit are expected to cover major infrastructure projects, including Nigerian port modernisation backed by the UK, as well as trade relations. Bilateral trade between the two countries reached £8.1 billion ($11 billion) in the year to September 2025, representing an 11.4 per cent increase year-on-year.
