Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has pledged to work closely with the six newly elected Area Council chairmen, saying political differences will not hinder development in the capital.
Wike made the remark on Wednesday in Abuja when the council leaders visited his office to collect their certificates of return ahead of their June swearing-in.
Congratulating the chairmen, the minister described the expected collaboration between his administration and the council officials as a “rainbow coalition.”
“No matter the party, what is important is that we work together. Since I came as minister, we have always worked together in the city, and that is why we have continued to achieve results,” he said.
Wike also acknowledged that candidates aligned with President Bola Tinubu received government support during the elections but assured that leaders from other political parties who share the administration’s vision will also be involved in governance.
He urged the incoming chairmen to prepare for office and deliver good governance to residents.
