A court in Norway has sentenced Nigerian footballer Daniel Daga to six months in prison after finding him guilty of committing a non-consensual sexual act.
Daga, who plays for Norwegian club Molde FK, received the sentence following legal proceedings in the country.
His lawyer, however, said the player plans to appeal the verdict, insisting that the encounter in question was consensual.

Molde FK acknowledged the court ruling and confirmed that the midfielder will not participate in matches for now while the legal process continues.
The case has drawn attention in both Norway and Nigeria, where Daga previously captained the national under-20 team, the Flying Eagles.
