Bam Adebayo delivered a historic performance on Tuesday, scoring an NBA career-high 83 points, the second-highest total in league history ,as the Miami Heat crushed the Washington Wizards 150-129.
Adebayo surpassed the 81 points scored by the late Kobe Bryant against Toronto in 2006, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain’s legendary 100-point game in 1962.
The star forward set the tone early, scoring 31 points in the first quarter on 10-of-16 shooting.
By halftime, he had amassed 43 points and added 19 more in the third quarter, bringing him to 62 and putting him in position to challenge Bryant’s long-standing record.

Late in the fourth quarter, Adebayo tied Bryant’s mark with two free throws before adding two more to reach 83. He was then subbed out to a standing ovation from fans at Miami’s Kaseya Center.
“Man, I wish I could relive it twice,” Adebayo said, calling it the best game of his career.
“Somebody had to pass me the ball. I appreciate the coach for drawing up plays, and I got it going tonight. This is number one, for sure.”
He also expressed pride in surpassing his boyhood idol, Bryant.
