Governor Umaru Fintiri orders a 24-hour curfew in Lamurde LGA following renewed communal violence between Tshobo and Bwatiye communities.
The Adamawa State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area following renewed violent clashes between communities in the area.
Governor Umaru Fintiri announced the immediate restriction after fresh attacks were reported in the Tshobo and Bwatiye communities, raising concerns about escalating communal tensions.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, the governor described the violence as unacceptable and directed security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly to restore order.
The curfew is aimed at preventing further attacks and stabilising the security situation in the affected communities within Adamawa State.
Residents have been urged to comply fully with the directive and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could assist in restoring peace.

Governor Fintiri warned that the state government would not tolerate acts of violence and lawlessness, stressing that anyone who violates the curfew order would be arrested and prosecuted.
The latest development follows a history of communal tensions in the area. Last year, clashes between the Tshobo and Bwatiye communities led to loss of lives and destruction of property before the state government brokered a peace agreement and deployed security personnel to maintain order.
Authorities say the curfew will remain in force while efforts continue to de-escalate tensions and prevent further violence.
