A former Rivers State chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Apostle Eugene Ogu, has asked the United States, United Nations, and European Union to intervene over Nigeria’s failure to allow real-time electronic transmission of election results.
In a petition released in Port Harcourt on Friday, Ogu said the National Assembly’s refusal to approve direct electronic transmission poses a serious threat to Nigeria’s democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He warned that blocking real-time result transmission could undermine public trust in elections and increase the risk of manipulation and unrest.
Ogu, who leads the Abundant Life Evangel Mission, accused lawmakers of ignoring public demand for a transparent and credible electoral process. He said Nigerians want elections that are free, fair, and verifiable.

The cleric alleged that the Senate’s rejection of the proposal creates room for rigging and electoral fraud, adding that it places pressure on security agencies and election officials.
He called on international bodies and local organisations, including labour unions, student groups, and professional associations, to speak out and push for the passage of the bill into law.
Ogu also urged foreign governments to take a firm stance, warning that continued resistance to electoral reform could damage Nigeria’s global image.
He appealed to political leaders to act in the public interest, saying Nigeria’s future stability depends on credible elections and respect for the will of the people.
