NDDC officials inspect a fish farming incubation centre in Rivers State under the LIFE-ND programme.
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), in partnership with Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises–Niger Delta (LIFE-ND), is intensifying efforts to transform agriculture across the Niger Delta.
Officials from the NDDC and LIFE-ND recently inspected agricultural incubation centres in Akwa Ibom, Imo, and Rivers states to evaluate the programme’s performance in rural communities.
Speaking in Ogu Town, Rivers State, during a visit to Megalakes Farms, Dr Winifred Madume, Director of Agriculture and Fisheries, said the inspections are routine and designed to ensure the programme meets its objectives.
“This oversight ensures that training aligns with the programme’s mandate. NDDC’s commitment to funding and supporting rural economic growth complements President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for agricultural development,” she said.

The three-day inspection engaged incubatees from different batches, identifying areas for improvement under the LIFE-ND initiative—a collaboration between NDDC, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the Federal Government, and state governments.
Mr Abi Morris, Special Assistant on Agriculture to the NDDC Managing Director, praised the enthusiasm of young agripreneurs, many of whom have launched enterprises or are completing incubation.
“This programme goes beyond training. It creates livelihoods and reshapes mindsets. We continue to support youth initiatives and address challenges faced by our agripreneurs,” he said during a visit to Sogho in Rivers State.
Beneficiaries also shared their success stories. Miss Nzhu Salome in Rivers State said the programme helped her establish a garri marketing business, while Ibigineh Doreen in Imo State credited LIFE-ND with boosting her fish farming venture. In Akwa Ibom, Dr Oretan Adebowale encouraged participants to use their skills to advance sustainable agriculture.
