Israeli security forces and officials investigate alleged smuggling of restricted goods into Gaza.
Israeli prosecutors have charged 12 people, including military reservists, over alleged smuggling of prohibited goods into Gaza during the war.
The Justice Ministry said the suspects are accused of assisting the enemy in wartime and running an organised smuggling network for profit. The goods allegedly moved into Gaza include cigarettes, mobile phones, batteries, communication cables and car parts, worth millions of shekels.
Authorities said the operation began in the summer of 2025 while fighting was ongoing. One company was also charged.
Police and Israel’s Shin Bet security agency confirmed multiple arrests, saying both Israeli citizens and Gaza residents were involved. Some suspects were military reservists.

Prosecutors allege the smuggling indirectly strengthened militant groups, including Hamas, by bypassing security controls on goods entering the territory.
Israeli media reports also linked a relative of a senior security official to the case, though formal charges were still pending.
