National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results for external candidates, with 71.63% of candidates achieving five credits or more, including English and Mathematics.
Registrar Danlami Wushishi announced the results on Tuesday, noting that 96,979 candidates registered for the exams, while 95,160 ultimately sat for them.
A detailed breakdown of the results shows:
- English Language: 93,425 candidates sat; 78.32% obtained credit and above
- Mathematics: 93,330 candidates sat; 91.35% obtained credit and above
- Five credits including English & Maths: 68,166 candidates (71.63%)
- Five credits irrespective of English & Maths: 82,082 candidates (86.26%)
However, Wushishi highlighted a spike in examination malpractice, with 9,016 cases recorded, up from 6,160 in 2024—a 31.7% increase.

Some supervisors and centres faced sanctions for violations.
The NECO Registrar reaffirmed the council’s commitment to safeguarding examination integrity and warned against any practices that compromise the credibility of its assessments.
